ROMANCE WITH AN EDGE: A SOFT SCULPTURAL SUMMER WEDDING AT STANLY RANCH

There is something special about summer in Napa Valley—the warm light, dry landscape, and slower pace make everything feel a little more alive. For Angel and Monique, Stanly Ranch, Auberge Resorts Collection, became the setting for a wedding that felt romantic and soft, but never overly traditional.

Their vision lived somewhere between modern romance and something a little unexpected.

Set against the contemporary architecture and natural landscape of Stanly Ranch, their wedding design played beautifully with contrast. Soft blooms met sculptural arrangements. Delicate orchids were layered with grasses, textural botanicals, unexpected produce, and organic elements. Clean tablescapes and white draping brought a sense of ease to the reception, while warmer tones and unusual floral compositions gave the celebration its edge.

A Sculptural Ceremony in Napa Valley

The outdoor ceremony was one of my favorite expressions of their design.Vignette Florals transformed the sculptural ceremony space at Stanly Ranch with an abundance of flowers, textures, and vessels that felt as though they were growing naturally into the landscape. Rather than competing with the architecture, the florals softened it.

There was movement everywhere—the grasses, flowers, fabric, and surrounding landscape—and Bella Rosa String Quartet brought another layer of romance as their families and friends gathered around them. It was refined without feeling overly polished. Romantic without becoming predictable.

A Modern Stanly Ranch Wedding Reception

Inside, the feeling shifted.

Warm wood, candlelight, long tables, soft draping, and sculptural florals created an intimate atmosphere against Stanly Ranch's modern architecture. Found Rental Co.'s pieces brought another layer of personality to the space, while the floral design continued onto the tables through arrangements that felt loose, artful, and slightly unconventional.

I loved photographing all of those contrasts.

The quiet details alongside a full dinner table. Beautifully composed portraits next to blurry movement. Champagne in the California sun followed by direct flash and a packed dance floor.

That balance is always where I find myself most inspired.

A Wedding Venue That Became Part of Their Story

Beyond the design, one of my favorite parts of documenting Angel and Monique's wedding was simply getting to know them more deeply.

A wedding day gives you this rare window into someone's world. I got to hear more of their love story, meet the people closest to them, and understand a little more about who they are together. And I love that their relationship with Stanly Ranch didn't end with their wedding.

They continue to return and spend time there together. There is something really beautiful about choosing a wedding venue that doesn't become a place you visited once, but somewhere that continues to hold a place in your life.

Now, Stanly Ranch holds a piece of their history. And I feel incredibly lucky that I was there to document the beginning of it.
