MARIELISA AND MATHEW’S VINTAGE + QUIRKY MADONNA IN WEDDING

When MarieLisa and Mathew decided to get hitched, they knew they wanted a celebration that was reflective of their bold personalities. Their wedding at the iconic Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, CA, was nothing short of a colorful, quirky, and vintage-inspired culmination of their love — and I was so honored to be there to get it all on camera!

Marielisa and Matthew's Backstory

They met a little over four years ago on Bumble (thank goodness for Mathew’s time extension!), and together they’ve built a life filled with vinyl records, bad dad jokes, and plenty of adventures with their lab and blue heeler. While they dream of traveling the world, they’re homebodies at heart, soaking up quality time with their favorite Netflix shows and late-night walks.

Mathew, a laid-back Arizona native with a penchant for board games and running, brings an effortless calm to their relationship. Meanwhile, MarieLisa’s old soul and love for vintage music (and celebrity trivia!) make her a magnetic force. Together, they’re a perfect match — a balance of humor, warmth, and love.

Their Vintage + Quirky Madonna Inn Wedding

Their wedding day was a true reflection of who they are — colorful, quirky, and deeply connected. The Madonna Inn, one of my favorite nontraditional wedding venues in California, set the perfect stage for their day. Every detail felt intentional and personal, from their LEGO guest book to the heartfelt cultural elements that celebrated their Mexican and Armenian heritage.

One of the most touching parts of the day was MarieLisa’s bond with her mom and sister. Watching her step out of her comfort zone to fully embrace the spotlight was so beautiful to witness. And let’s not forget Mathew — who planned nearly every detail of the day! From their private last dance in the reception to the stunning heart arch handmade by their bridal squad, every moment felt like a reflection of their core values as a couple.

California Wedding Venue Highlight: The Madonna Inn

If you’ve ever been to the Madonna Inn, you know it’s a place like no other. Each corner of the venue offered something whimsical, bold, and full of character — just like MarieLisa and Mathew. From the eclectic hotel rooms to the bold reception decor they brought all the way from Arizona, it was impossible not to feel inspired. This venue wasn’t just a backdrop of their wedding day, but instead it was truly an extension of their already audacious personalities!

Capturing It All on Super8

For a couple who love vintage vibes, filming their day on Super8 and capturing moments on film photography was a must. There’s something so nostalgic and raw about those grainy frames, and it felt like the perfect medium to document their love story. While I won’t spoil the full Super8 video, let’s just say the clips of their private last dance and those playful first-look moments will forever be etched in my memory!

Vendors Who Made It Magical

A day this special wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible vendors who brought it to life:

Venue: Madonna Inn

DJ: DJ Claudio Valero

Florals: Country Florist and Gift

Officiant: Weddings by Roberta

Photography and Super8: Angela Jazmin Studio
