LENA AND ERIC’S DREAMY CALIFORNIA DESERT WEDDING AT JOSHUA TREE

Lena and Eric’s California desert was a celebration that fused their creative talents and love for each other with the iconic backdrop of Joshua Tree National Park. Rain, desert views, and dancing under the stars all came together to create a day that felt intimate, stylish, and unforgettable if I do say so myself.

A Creative Love Story

Lena and Eric’s love story began in a restaurant kitchen, where sparks flew over a shared moment involving a splinter (yes, really!). Fast forward to today, and their love has grown into something as beautiful and intentional as the life they’ve built together. Eric, a talented chef, brings thoughtfulness and creativity to every dish he makes, while Lena is a design powerhouse, incorporating her artistry into everything she touches. Together, they’re the ultimate creative power couple... so it makes sense that they ended up planning such an incredible wedding!

A Rainy Ceremony Turned Magical

Lena and Eric made it a point to prioritize details that reflected their shared love of beauty and meaning. Despite rain gracing their ceremony, the skies cleared up just as Lena and Eric began their vows — as if the universe itself wanted to spotlight their moment. The ceremony took place at the Desert View Conservation Area in Joshua Tree, where pink ribbons tied to rocks and boulders wrapped in tule created a simple yet stunning ceremony design.

The Details of Lena and Eric’s Dreamy California Desert Wedding at Joshua Tree

Lena’s creativity was on full display throughout the day. She designed her wedding herself, crafting the table settings with help from friends and infusing every detail with her personal creative flair. Their AirBnB, a desert dream with impeccable interior mid-century design, became the perfect space for their welcome party and getting ready photos. The reception at Mas o Menos was an intimate celebration, featuring delicious tamales and salad prepared by Eric and Lena themselves.

What I loved about their day was how every detail told a story: Lena’s pink ribbons and Eric’s culinary creations, their handmade decor, and the joyful, supportive energy of their closest friends and family. It wasn’t just your run-of-the-mill traditional wedding; it was an experience for the books.

Capturing It All on Super8

To honor their love for vintage charm, I filmed parts of their day on Super8. There’s something so timeless about seeing moments unfold in that grainy, nostalgic style. From the first look to their rain-soaked ceremony and dancing beneath the desert stars, the Super8 footage is one of my favorite pieces of art from their day.
